He Ra Hau - A New Day
Inspired by the 24 year drug and alcohol recovery of a dear friend, Rawiri Pene, this documentary aimed to chronicle his receipt of a full facial tamoko (Maori tattoo). Shot over a weekend in December 2014, the Wananga Tamoko (tattoo clinic) took place at Hoani Waititi Marae in West Auckland, New Zealand. To make the occasion even more special for me, my mother Te Ata and another friend Donna Matson would receive Moko Kauwae (chin tattoos).
